Liberia Crusaders for Peace supported the Charge as Liberia Launches 16 Days of Activism Against GBV

On Monday, November 25, 2024, Liberia officially launched its participation in the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Against Women and Girls campaign with a key message “From Talk to Action” . The event, held at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex, brought together government officials, civil society organizations (CSOs), international partners, and advocates to unite against GBV.

This year’s launch was spearheaded by the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, under the leadership of Minister Gbeme Horace-Kollie, whose trust and dedication to this cause were widely commended. Ambassador Juli Endee, an advocate and Human rights defender and the Liberia Crusaders for Peace mobilized over 500 women from national NGOs, women’s groups, Artists and community leaders, transforming the venue into a “Let’s orange the world” powerful symbol of the solemnity and urgency of this campaign.

The event was graced by the presence of Liberia’s Second Lady, Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung, who served as Chief Launcher. In a keynote address, Atty. Yah Pawon, Country Director of Medical Liberia, emphasized the critical importance of addressing GBV and its devastating impact on women, girls, and society as a whole. Representatives from international organizations, including the World Bank, EU, ECOWAS, United Nations, Plan International, and the U.S. Embassy were also in attendance, reaffirming the global community’s commitment to combating GBV in Liberia.
